Hi it’s Alex from Dude Wheres My Muscle.com, let me ask you a question. What do you think is your body’s weakest link that can hold you back from achieving maximum muscle stimulation, growth and strength each time you step in the gym?
Do you know what the answer is?
Well, imagine your doing a full on workout at the gym and you’re at that mid way point of your workout. You take take a look at your training log and see the next exercise you have to do is squats. So you pick the appropriate weight, get into the proper position and start performing the exercise.
The first set wasn’t to much of a problem but on the next set you start experiencing your weakest link complaining, screaming out in agony and the more you lift the more it screams out for mercy.
So what is this weakest link that far too often maxes out and calls it a day long before your have done what you needed to do in the gym?
The answer is… your grip! Which includes your wrists, hands and forearms.
So when your grip throws in the towel and starts waving the white flag to surrender, you have no other option but to lower the amount of weight you’re using on the current exercise or stop completely and move onto another exercise. Unfortunately, both of these options will set you back in your overall gains and workout goals.
So what’s the best way to strengthen your grip?
If your answer is doing wrist curls brrrrrrr, you’d be wrong.
Although these do have some value, your time in the gym should be spent more wisely. Ideally, you should find a way to strengthen your wrists and forearms without altering your current workout or having to add additional exercises.
This is where the kick-ass training tool known as Fat Gripz comes into the picture.
Fat Gripz are an inexpensive tool that can snap onto any type of bar in a split second and instantly transform it into what is known as a thick bar. If you haven’t heard of thick bars before, they are one of the most potent ways to increase grip strength. The only problem is they cost a small fortune and you’d be lucky to find them in any commercial gyms.
Fat Gripz allow you to get all the benefits of thick bars but without the heavy price tag.
When you start using Fat Gripz, you’re working out the smart way. You will be able to lift heavier and never have the problem of needing to abandon an exercise because your grip failed way before you had adequately hit the targeted muscle group. The end result is that you will be bigger and stronger.
I fell in love with Fat Gripz the day I started using them and they are now my loyal gym buddy. If this sounds a bit weird, trust me, you will understand what I mean when you start using them.

I do agree that your grip is a major factor in whether you get a good workout and stimulate your muscles properly. I have experienced a less than ideal workout when my wrists get tired and I’m doing an exercise like the clean. This is a great exercise, but if your wrists get tired, you won’t be able to lift your maximum or near your max weight.
Spot on Juliana. If you’re grip waves the white flag to surrender, you’re not going to be reaching your lifting potential in the gym and your results will be slower.
This is a great idea I can’t tell you how many times I have had a bar slip in my hand because it simply was to thin and it gets sweaty, with these it will not only increase your grip strength but it won’t get sweaty to the point it allows the bar to slip in your hands anymore. Thank you for doing this I am looking forward to getting some for my home gym.
These Fat Gripz look pretty interesting, but I am not sure how it is that they work. Unfortunately, I had trouble viewing the video, but that is more my problem that I am having with my computer. I did manage to see that the video use that clever style of doodling in order to explain the product and how it is used.
Fat Gripz are super simple to use. They just clip onto any type of bar in a split second. That’s it. Almost too easy!

These grips can certainly come in handy during heavy weight exercises. I can think of a couple of exercises that require a strong secure grip. One of them is trapezius curls. The other two would be barbell bicep curls and the big mother load that builds muscle all over your body: the clean and the dead lift – both done with barbells, but they can be done with dumbbells as well.
Yup, you’re right Theresa, a strong grip comes in handy for just about all exercises. Fat Gripz is a wonderful tool to help boost grip strength without needing to do any additional exercises.
recommend Grip4orce due to the fact these grips were intended to build crushing grip strength and increase muscle tension with the resistance inside them…amazing product for getting the job done. its like a thick-bar on steroids.
There is always a bit of a battle between which grip tool people prefer. I haven’t used Grip4orce, so I cannot comment on this. I do have one friend who switched from Grip4orce to Fat Gripz and said it was good decision he made. I will have to inquire about why that is the case. You’ve peaked my curiosity!
